What is mindfulness
anyway?

Simply put, mindfulness is being present. It is experiencing what happens in the now,
rather than letting our mind wander into the past and future. We use meditation to support
our mindfulness journeys, as meditation can support increased concentration and awareness.

We can use mindfulness and mindful meditation to bring awareness to our lived experiences.
We can come back to our bodies, and learn deeply about our inherent sense of “knowing”.
Mindfulness can support our self-compassion, resiliency, stress and anxiety management,
our eating patterns, our relationships with our bodies, our self-care, and our healing.

An ongoing relationship to cultivate your healing.

Every body on this planet needs to be supported and unconditionally loved, but oftentimes it isn’t as simple as that. This leaves us with immoveable pain or trauma that hinders our life experiences.

At Wellness by Bhumika, we use mindfulness and meditation to discover how we need to heal, and what we need to heal from. We use the two in tandem with mindful conversation and presence to discover what we hold on to. We work with both the body and mind to help release somatic and mental energy and blocks.

Price: 100CAD + taxes per hour session.
Sliding scale available on request.
What is included: In every session, we’ll use meditation and mindfulness to create release. We’ll chat through what you notice through your breath.

What does Mindfulness and Meditation look like? Read about a few of its facets below. We can use these practices and more to support your healing and wellness.

01 — Self-Compassion

We speak to our friends with love and compassion. Imagine if we spoke to ourselves the same way. Self compassion is about being kind and loving to the self, even in our suffering. Cultivating compassion in this way can bring healing to the body and mind.

02 — Mindful Eating

The pleasure of eating is a tale as old as time. It’s an innate part of our livelihood, and allows us to explore a wide and beautiful gastronomical world. When our relationship to food changes from pleasure to something more painful (whether it be bingeing, or addiction, or forgoing meals), we lose sight of our relationship with our bodies and the joy of eating. Mindful eating supports eating for the body, rather than the mind, and helps us experience gratitude while we do so.

03 — Anxiety and Stress Relief

When we constantly dwell on the past and present, we can sometimes get caught up with thoughts and memories that trigger our anxieties and stresses. Bringing ourselves into the present moment can be a key part of reducing these moments of suffering. How do we do this? With the breath and meditation.
The breath is often used as an anchor to bring us back to the present moment - it’s the one thing that’s constantly with us. We can begin to control our own narrative by grounding ourselves, and watching our thoughts pass in the mind without judgement. Our energy deserves to be protected, and we deserve to cultivate care for the body. There’s a variety of ways in which we can use our breath and meditation - book a free consultation with me to discuss what’s right for you.

04 — Resiliency in Racism

Prejudice, micro-aggressions, and racism. They may feel consistent in an anglophonic and colonized land, and that can be downright exhausting. If you’re BIPOC, it’s often important to cultivate our resiliency and ensure that we don’t internalize white supremacy and racism. Let’s go back to the body. Let’s go back to our ancestors. Let’s go back to our people and our breath. Cultivating care for yourself is the greatest act of resistance.

05 — Mindful Listening and Walking

A capitalist mindset tells us that we must always be moving on to the next thing. It tells us to talk fast, and walk fast. In order for us to come back to our bodies mindfully, we must learn to slow down, and really take a moment to pause. We can do this in all of our relationships.

Relationships with others require mindful listening that is backed by compassion and warm energy. Relationships with the environment require mindful walking and movement to truly recognize the world around us. We can use mindful listening and walking to be at ease. It’s what each of us deserves, now more than ever.

Start a new relationship with yourself now.
