My name is Bhumika Patel…

I’m a mindfulness and mindful anti-racism practitioner from Tkaronto, the traditional territories of the Huron-Wendat, the Haudenosaunee, and the Anishinaabe peoples. Many of us currently know this area as Toronto, ON.

I bring mindfulness and meditation together with an anti-racist, intersectional, decolonial, and inclusive lens. I support schools, businesses, and groups around Toronto with anti-racism and diversity strategy, mindfulness, and team building through mindfulness.

When I was a young Hindu child, I was dragged to prayer ceremonies, yoga clubs, satsangs, and other religious events; I lacked the knowledge to contextualize our rituals and wisdom and thought them boring and time-consuming. What I didn’t realize when I was younger was that these moments would have an immense impact on my life. As I grew up, I began to recognize the knowledge of my people and our religion, and began to connect to our ancient yogic wisdoms in times of my own discomfort and happiness. Now, I am consistently using the techniques I’ve learned from my people to lead a better life for myself, and assist those around me with my Hindu and desi knowledge. My hunger for our teachings is still insatiable, and I love being a life long learner.

My ancestral and cultural teachings are supplemented by my Mindfulness and Meditation Foundations and Specialist certificates from the University of Toronto, St. George campus. I work with individuals, schools, and corporate workspaces to bring mindfulness to mainstream culture. I combine this mindful knowledge with intersectional anti-racism to support a just and equitable world.

Let’s breathe together.
